Mass Root Removal

Project – Mass roots removal during drainage installation project
Equipment Used – Prokasro 4.0 unit
Pipe diameter – 450mm
We employ a wide range of cutting discs and milling head to make the removal of roots fast and efficient

The Problem

Despite extensive jetting utilising a chain flail attachment, our client had been unable to remove 3x areas of mass root ingress on a large diameter surface water drain. This was during a drainage installation project, however, the sections with root ingress were running underneath a main slip road meaning an excavation was not an option. The project was nearing its end and would have incurred massive traffic management costs for any work in the slip road.

The Solution

We trailed our Prokasro 4.0 up a large embankment to reach the Excavation (unable to work from the manhole as it was in the slip road). Following extensive jetting from our client prior to cutting, we managed to remove the areas of mass root ingress with relative ease, ready for our clients to reline the pipework and prevent further ingress. We worked closely with our client throughout the project to ensure they were happy with the results.

The Outcome

Despite the unusual circumstances of the job (limited access, etc), we successfully removed the root ingress restoring the pipework to full working order while saving our clients a considerable amount of time/money in the process!
